In several areas of the Mercedes-Benz AG Regional Logistics Center in UAE, the conventional lighting systems were replaced with LED solutions. The new lighting system at the warehouse integrates a contemporary design with the highest standards of light output and energy saving requirements. 

The objective of the project was to improve the lighting and employee safety, while also lowering energy consumption. The use of conventional ligthing was no longer efficient, posing an inconvienece of work and a safety hazard to the staff. The goal was to switch from conventional to LED to enhance the output of light while also having an automated system with motion detection and without manual switching to bring about more efficiency and step up the usable light in line with industry standards.

Traditional lighting was replaced with the LEDVANCE Performance Sensor Highbay Gen3 in the entire warehouse. Currently, 240 Highbay luminaires and sensors are installed at the worksites of the warehouse. These lighting upgrades have improved the lighting comfort and, more importantly, safety on the worksite, where several machinery are used each day. With step-dim, daylight saving, and motion sensors, workers can get light when they need it and in the right proportions. This was an important factor for the customer as it provided more flexibility without having to run additional cables through the worksites to manage the dimming of the luminaires. 

The highbay luminaires have provided a high level of lighting comfort and energy savings of approximately 80% (with the step-dim function) compared to the conventional lighting that was previously used. The lighting in the warehouse automatically adjusts to presence, providing light only when required, and adapts to natural light by adjusting artificial light to ensure that there is always enough light intensity. This helps save energy and eliminates the need for a manual ligthing switch. Furthermore, by providing lux levels greater than 200lx, this LED solution has significantly enhanced light quality. 

The conversion of the lighting at the Mercedes-Benz AG Regional Logistics Center in UAE to LEDVANCE LED solutions has significantly reduced energy consumption and enhanced lighting quality, as well as improve employee comfort and safety.
