In Vilnius, LEDVANCE has modernised the lighting of the Vingis Stadium and the adjacent tennis courts with LED floodlights. The high-performance luminaires achieve top marks in terms of energy consumption, lighting quality and maintenance costs.
The Vingis Stadium with the adjacent tennis facility is an important sports centre in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius. Olympic teams and young athletes train at the stadium in a wide range of disciplines such as athletics and modern pentathlon. The floodlighting of the stadium and the tennis centre with outdated metal halide lamps needed to be replaced with modern and efficient lighting solutions that also meet the requirements of category III in accordance with EN 12193 ‘Sports lighting’.
As the operator of the sports facilities, the Lithuanian Sport Centre commissioned LEDVANCE with the development, planning and implementation of new lighting for the tennis facility and subsequently for the Vingis Stadium. Accordingly, the team from LEDVANCE Lithuania designed and implemented the modernisation of the tennis court lighting by replacing the existing luminaires with 32 LED floodlight luminaires. The 20 conventional metal halide floodlights in the Vingis Stadium were also replaced by 20 Floodlight MAX LUM P 1200W with corresponding power supply units.
The new LED floodlights fulfil all the requirements of category III of EN 12193 for the lighting of sports facilities. With low-flicker light, a luminous flux of up to 162000 lm, simple dimmability and a luminous efficacy of up to 140 lm/W, the LED floodlight luminaires optimise the quality of light in the stadium and on the tennis court. Energy savings of up to 45% compared to luminaires with conventional discharge lamps also significantly reduce electricity costs. And a service life of up to 75000 hours (L80/B10 at
25 °C) and a 5-year guarantee significantly reduce the effort and costs involved inmaintaining the lighting.
On behalf of the Lithuanian Sport Centre, LEDVANCE has equipped the lighting systems of the Vingis Stadium in Vilnius and the neighbouring tennis facility with innovative LED floodlight solutions. These comply with the category III specifications of EN 12193 for the lighting of sports facilities, improve the lighting quality with high luminous intensity, enable energy savings of up to 45% compared to conventional discharge lamps and reduce maintenance costs and expenses thanks to long service lives and a 5-year guarantee.
