A BETTER LIGHTING AT THE GOAT FARM

The goat house has a main hall for breeding and milking goats. This hall is exposed to high temperature variations, dust, ammonia and humidity.
In such a facility, robust, ammonia-resistant luminaires are needed to provide the right lighting for this demanding environment. With time and exposure to ammonia, the old luminaires equipped with conventional fluorescent tubes lost their robustness and were no longer waterproof enough. In addition, their energy consumption and maintenance costs were high.
This farm also has its own facility for the production of goat cheese. Therefore, Damp Proof luminaires adapted to a food-processing environment were required.

In the halls and cheese production facility, the traditional light sources were replaced by DAMP PROOF SPECIAL 1500 50W IP66 and IP69K luminaires that provide uniform and comfortable light for the goats. These completely sealed, ammonia-resistant luminaires are also waterproof and therefore suitable for the food-processing environment like the cheese production.

Due to its high resistance to demanding environments, the ammonia-, dust- and water-resistant DAMP PROOF SPECIAL luminaire is perfect for this application. The IP69K protection rate allows them to be washed with a high-pressure cleaner. These DAMP PROOF SPECIAL IP69K luminaires also meet the standards of the IFS (International Featured Standard Food) and the BRC (British Retail Consortium). As the lactation and fertility of goats is also influenced by the lighting, a minimum light intensity of 200 lux is recommended. The performance of the installed DAMP PROOF SPECIAL also enhances the well-being of the goats: very low flicker <1%, luminous efficacy of 130 lm/W, luminous flux reaching up to 6500 lm. The installation was very simple, fast and was conducted without special tools. In addition, the LED technology allowed the customer to save up to 55% of energy.

This farm is now equipped with lighting per-fectly adapted to the agricultural environment. The owner is satisfied and can now work in pleasant conditions. The goats also benefit from the good lighting, which has a positive effect on their health, well-being and milk production.
