GREAT LIGHTING FOR GREAT CHAMPIONS

LEDVANCE developed high performance LED Floodlight Arena luminaires specially for the Žalgiris Arena in Kaunus to modernise the lighting and enable it to fulfil the technical requirements for TV broadcasts of international basketball games in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague and even World Championships. Additional upgrade benefits include a greater ease of maintenance and increased energy efficiency.

The Žalgiris Arena in Kaunas is the largest multifunctional arena in the Baltic States and the venue for internationally recognised sporting events. The lighting inside the arena with old metal halide spotlights was to be replaced by a modern and efficient LED-based solution. The new lighting was needed to improve the quality of light and alsomeet the technical requirements of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague for the organisation and TV broadcasting of international basketball games by Žalgiris Kaunas by providing suitable glare-free illuminance.

The customer UAB Kauno Arena commissioned LEDVANCE with the planning and realisation of a new lighting solution for the Zalgiris Arena. In addition to an already successful collaboration, LEDVANCE's international expertise in the lighting of sports facilities was also a decisive factor. Accordingly, LEDVANCE developed a lighting design for the arena that replaced the existing metal halide spotlights with a total of 100 LED Floodlight Arena luminaires in the Duo version specially configured for this project, equipped with a DMX control system to enable a full customisation of lighting scenes.

With the new lighting solution, the Žalgiris Arena fulfils all requirements for TV broadcasts of international basketball games in the Turkish Airlines Euroleagueand even World Championships. The Floodlight Arena luminaires with a luminous flux of up to 71000 lm in the Duo version, a colour rendering index (CRI) of 80 and significantly improved energy efficiency ensure optimum lighting in terms of lighting quality and cost-effectiveness. High-quality metal reflectors enable light control free of colour interference and stainless-steel reflectors minimise stray light and glare. The COB-based floodlights with anodised die-cast aluminium housings also impress with their optimum thermal behaviour. With a 5-year guarantee and a rated service life of up to 120000 hours (L80 @ 15°C), the floodlights reduce maintenance costs and effort in the long term.

LEDVANCE planned and implemented a new lighting solution for the Žalgiris Arena in Kaunas for the customer UAB Kauno Arena. By replacing the existing metal halide floodlights with LED Floodlight Arena luminaires specially developed to meet the customer's needs, the significantly improved quality of light not only fulfils the technical requirements for TV broadcasts of international basketball games but also achieves the best results in terms of energy efficiency, ease of maintenance and lighting control.
