The stringent requirements of the European Single Lighting Regulation (SLR) and Energy Labeling Regulation (ELR) in terms of climate protection and occupational safety mean that conventional fluorescent tubes will gradually be banned from the market since September 2021.
With the amendment of the EU RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU in spring 2022, a ban on T5 and T8 fluorescent lamps is now coming in 2023. All changes and alternatives at a glance can be found on our RoHS information page.
The LEDVANCE LED lamp portfolio for 2020/21 comprises an even wider selection of high-performance and durable OSRAM SubstiTUBE LED tubes – including selected types with a lifespan up to 60,000 hours and in full glass, which can also be used in the food industry and other sensitive areas thanks to a shatter protection film.
OSRAM SubstiTUBE T8 and T5 Universal models are real all-in-one solutions. They can be operated with ECG and AC mains, T8 even with CCG, and are suitable for a range of different applications thanks to a large selection of various types. OSRAM SubstiTube T8 Motion Sensor has an integrated microwave sensor which is also suitable for closed luminaires. Combined with the new generation of the connected sensors from LEDVANCE, the second generation of OSRAM SubstiTUBE T8 Connected allows for professional wireless light management via Zigbee 3.0. OSRAM SubstiTUBE T8 EM feature extra high efficiency of up to 165 lm/W and tandem function with all 600 mm types. Specially tailored spectral distribution makes OSRAM SubstiTUBE T8 FOOD EM especially suited for the presentation of food. OSRAM SubstiTUBE T8 U-Shape EM is a new LED alternative to classic T8 U-shaped fluorescent lamps in street lighting applications. SubstiTUBE T9 offers a direct and safe replacement for traditional 22 W and 32 W T9 fluorescent lamps.
There are plenty more reasons to switch to LEDVANCE’s LED tube range: Benefit also from short payback times based on a nominal lifespan that is up to five times longer and energy savings of up to 50% compared with conventional fluorescent lamps.
Radiant illumination, singular technology: The new OSRAM SubstiTUBE LED tubes outperform conventional T8, T5 and T9 fluorescent lamps in many ways.
Are you uncertain about which lamp technology (EM or HF lamps) you need for your luminaire? Our insider tip offers you two ways of easily finding this out.
Starter test
See whether the luminaire in which you want to use the new lamp has a starter. If it does, you need a SubstiTUBE Advanced T8 EM or Value T8 EM for operation on a CCG. If it does not, you should use the ECG-compatible HF variant.
Camera test
If a functioning T8 fluorescent lamp is still mounted in a luminaire, examine it with a digital camera (e.g., in your smartphone or tablet). If the light flickers, you need a SubstiTUBE Advanced T8 EM or Value T8 EM for operation on a CCG. If it does not, you should use the ECG-compatible HF variant.
